Jon Martinsen

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Mr. Jon attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning a BA in English/Creative Writing. Before pursuing a Master’s Degree, he served in the US Navy for 7 years primarily stationed in Virginia having been deployed in Europe and The Middle East. After moving to Colorado, he immediately worked in Education starting as a Substitute teacher and then as a paraprofessional before completing his Master’s Degree with CSU-Global majoring in Organizational Leadership and Management with a K-12 English Educator Specialization.

Today, Mr. Jon has taught for three years in Secondary English and has always been a fan of literature, especially 20th-century American literature (James Baldwin, Flannery O’Connor, Raymond Carver, to name a few), and enjoys passing his knowledge of some of the most influential authors and their works and why they remain significant. Outside of teaching, he is a big advocate for the arts, and enjoys hiking, and spending time with his family.
